Pleasantly plump teenager Tracy Turnblad teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after she and her girlfriend Penny land a spot on a local TV dance show hosted by Corny Collins. And she also attracts the attention of local teenage heartthrob Link Larkin. Not everyone is happy with the decision to have her dance on the show, however. The show’s manager, Velma von Tussle, will do anything to get Tracy off the show. Stars John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken and Queen Latifah.

Guests are encouraged to bring beach chairs or other easily portable items on which to sit, with set-up beginning at 5:30 p.m. Assorted candies, beverages and popcorn will be available for purchase. The Newport Beach Film Festival will present a collection of short animated films prior to the main feature, which will begin at dusk. Guests may bring their own snacks and picnic suppers, though barbecues and similar food preparation will not be permitted.
