Key Responsibilities of the
Position This is a full time position primarily
responsible for the management of prospect research and donor
data management for the entire Development Department, with specific
emphasis on the prospect management for the Center’s Capital Campaign
and Board Development. Management of these activities
includes: budgeting, planning, in-depth donor research and strategy. The
manager is also responsible for setting standards for donor information
management by the department in Tessitura, the customer relationship
management database.
Reporting The Manager,
Research will report to Vice President of Development (VPD) and work
collaboratively with the Associate Vice President and Development
staff.
Responsibilities
Prospect Research:
- Conduct biographical
and financial research using recognized prospect research procedures,
electronic databases, on-line reference resources, and printed
resources.
- Create reports on prospect information
and collected research, integrating information from a variety of
sources into a format designed for efficient review. Reports
will include full bios, thumbnails for special events, short summaries
for board members and other formats as
requested.
- Use data mining and predictive
modeling techniques to find and qualify new prospect. Ensure
effective integration of prospect screening data.

Pull targeted lists to support special events and major gifts/circles
outreach efforts.
- Participate in
cultivation/solicitation planning working sessions.

Ensure that systems and policies are in place to track prospect
relationships.
- Work with VPD to create materials
for Capital Campaign and Board Development
meetings.
- Track moves management for Capital
Campaign and Board
prospects.
Additional:
- Select and
manage department intern and act as department representative for the
Center’s internship program.
- Ensure timely and
accurate updates of donor recognition in the monthly performance program
and on glass elements throughout the
Center.
Professional
Qualifications - Bachelor’s
degree
- Three to five years of donor research
experience
- Strong computer and database management
skills. Familiarity with the Tessitura database
will be a plus
- Superior oral, written
communication and presentation
skills
- Regularly problem solve and
negotiate with tact and diplomacy

Compensation/Schedule
This is a full-time non-exempt position with benefits. Hours
are 9-5:30 with periodic evenings and weekends required. The salary will
be commensurate with the level of experience required for this
position. Background
The Orange County Performing Arts Center is one of the
country’s premier arts organizations. Founded in 1986, the
Center presents performance series in theater, international dance, jazz
and classical music, cabaret, independent bands, and family programming
to more than 500,000 people each year. Recognized as a leader
in arts education in Southern California, the Center serves nearly
400,000 students, teachers, and families with its innovative arts
education programs. In addition, the Center serves as the artistic home
for three resident companies: The Pacific Symphony, Philharmonic Society
of Orange County, and the Pacific Chorale. The
Center’s artistic programs and educational initiatives are supported by
some of the nations most technically advanced and acoustically
innovative performing arts venues. The Center’s facilities include: the
3,000 seat Segerstrom Hall, the 250 seat Founder’s Hall built as the
Center’s original facility, the 2,000 seat Renée and Henry Segerstrom
Concert Hall, the 500 seat Samueli Theatre, an outdoor plaza stage, the
studio performance space in the Dodge Education Center, and related
production and rehearsal spaces which opened in October 2006, together
creating a world-class performing arts campus that has significantly
expanded possibilities for the Center’s growing artistic and community
ambitions. The Center’s 2009-10 annual fund raising
goal is $10.2 million, with plans for significant growth throughout the
next five years. The Center is also currently engaged in a significant
capital campaign entitled “Building on the Vision” to strengthen the
institution and expand the range of programs offered by the
organization. To date, $188 million of the $240 million goal has been
raised. The Center has an annual operating budget that ranges
between $44 million and $50 million annually, and is governed by a 60
member Board of Directors. Its full time staff numbers
approximately 90, including 15 development staff. To
