It was, indeed, all elegance and spectacular style at the 15th Annual Guilds of the Orange County Performing Arts Center Fashion Show to benefit the Center – and a sell-out, with 400-plus people packing the ballroom of The Westin South Coast Plaza on Tuesday, March 16. This year’s fashion event was presented by St. John South Coast Plaza and featured 50 selections from the Spring 2010 Collection. Proceeds topped $100,000. One of the afternoon’s highlights was a special tribute to Honorary Chair Sandy Segerstrom Daniels, long-time donor to the Center, Guilds member and Board Vice President, Support Groups.

Carol Piturro-Kentner was the fashion show chair, with a committee that included Linda Thauer, silent auction chair; Louise Costa, program booklet chair; Barbara Biniasz (also Guilds chair) and Lois Adams, sponsors/underwriters; and Marilyn McCorkle and Linda Dette, reservations. A champagne reception and silent auction preceded the show and luncheon. Center President Terry Dwyer delivered a welcome and congratulatory message to Guilds members for their generosity, enthusiasm and tireless work on behalf of the Center’s artistic and education programs. He praised Daniels for her dedication to the community and, in particular, her work on behalf of children of the nation through her involvement in various youth and philanthropic organizations.
Following a video tribute to Daniels, whose family provided the property on which the Center was built as well as significant contributions towards the construction of the venues and artistic programs, Daniels was introduced by the 2009 honoree, Carol Wilken. In her introduction, Wilken noted, “Sandy has chosen her causes and community endeavors carefully and tackles them with determination and conviction - but always with humility, sincerity and grace. You heard a little bit about her family, and I am here to tell you that they are the most important part of her life. … To me Sandy is beauty and class, and I feel fortunate to be able to call her a friend.”
