MANAGER, EDUCATION PROGRAMS

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides management and daily operations of education programs
for events that occur “on-site” at The Center and/or are focused and targeted
to serve school age populations.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Manager, Education Programs reports to the Director, Education Programs
and the Vice President, Education
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Bears primary programmatic management of all “on-site” based programs and
events as they relate to The Center’s Education Department
- Organizes, plans, implements and is accountable for the following specific
education programs: Family Series, Masters at the Center, Summer at the Center,
On Stage at the Center, Imagination Celebration, Tomorrow’s Stars at the Center,
Special Projects and Audience Engagement activities
- Direct supervision of staff as assigned
- Create budget and oversee fiscal operation of on-site program with Vice President,
Education
- Responsible for budget tracking for each on-site program and special project
- Oversees technical aspects and ‘producing’ aspects of on-site events including
Family Series shows, Tomorrow’s Star’s performance, Summer at the Center performances,
audience engagement events, On Stage performances and special events as assigned
- Formalizes and coordinates all aspects and internal processes necessary for
effective and efficient operation of on-site programs in alignment with Center
standards
- Coordinates artist arrangements with agencies and representatives related
to artistic programmatic selections made for programs mentioned above
- Oversee online content for the educational on-site programs portion of OCPAC
website and Intranet pages
- Interfaces with the Center’s Marketing and Development departments, coordinating
projects and acting as the point person for department print, video, web based
and multi-media materials
- Responsible for overseeing marketing strategies and print materials of on-site
programs
- Other duties as assigned
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience and training or a strong understanding of theater production
- Familiarity with school organizations and logistical complexities of working
daily in the details of such issues preferred
- Experience with Tessitura database preferred
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Windows programs and donor database management
preferred

BACKGROUND
The Orange County Performing Arts Center is one of the country's premier arts
organizations. Founded in 1986, the Center presents performance series in
theater, international dance, jazz and classical music, cabaret, independent
bands, and family programming to more than 500,000 people each year. Recognized
as a leader in arts education in Southern California, the Center serves nearly
400,000 students, teachers, and families with its innovative arts education
programs. In addition, the Center serves as the artistic home for three resident
companies: The Pacific Symphony, Philharmonic Society of Orange County, and
the Pacific Chorale.
The Center's artistic programs and educational initiatives are supported by
some of the nations most technically advanced and acoustically innovative performing
arts venues. The Center's facilities include: the 3,000 seat Segerstrom Hall,
the 250 seat Founder's Hall built as the Center's original facility, the 2,000
seat Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, the 500 seat Samueli Theatre,
an outdoor plaza stage, the studio performance space in the Dodge Education
Center, and related production and rehearsal spaces which opened in October
2006, together creating a world-class performing arts campus that has significantly
expanded possibilities for the Center's growing artistic and community ambitions.
The Center's 2009-10 annual fund raising goal is $10.2 million, with plans
for significant growth throughout the next five years. The Center is also currently
engaged in a significant capital campaign entitled "Building on the Vision" to
strengthen the institution and expand the range of programs offered by the
organization. To date, $188 million of the $240 million goal has been raised.
The Center has an annual operating budget that ranges between $44 million
and $50 million annually, and is governed by a 60 member Board of Directors.
Its full time staff numbers approximately 105, including 16 development staff.
