| Education and Community Programs
 The Orange County Performing Arts Center is committed to providing all residents in this region with opportunities to enhance their knowledge of and appreciation for the performing arts. This includes students from elementary school through the university level, educators and individuals who simply want to broaden their experiences but not in a structure that is strictly academic. These programs achieve two especially important objectives: they develop the audiences of the future and, by integrating the arts into the standard curriculum, enhance learning, creative thinking, cognitive and social skills.
The Center's Education and Community Programs Department works hand-in-hand with many boards of education and school districts to support and assist them in ensuring the success of their students and teachers. Among the department's outstanding projects are:

Family Series
Entertaining and enlightening performances for your family in the new Samueli Theater. Designed primarily for ages 4-8, this series offers an exciting introduction to the performing arts. Professional artists from around the world perform shows that are produced specifically for family audiences. Performances also include free, fun activities for family to enjoy together before and after the shows. |

Masters at the Center
Our Masters at the Center program brings the best talent the world has to offer to career-bound students from all over Southern California. Artists have ranged from Broadway and television stars such as Megan Mullally and Barbara Cook to jazz great Kurt Elling to master teachers conducted by ballet masters from the world's leading dance companies. These intimate classes allow students to interact with world-class artists and receive immediate feedback with lasting value and instant application toward furthering their aspirations of a professional career in the arts. |

On Stage at the Center
Distinguished performing arts companies from around the world present educational programming to local students. These shows are designed as a starting point to stimulate greater understanding and appreciation of the performing arts. Teacher guides and student activity guides are developed for each event to continue the learning experience after the performance. |

Summer at the Center
This nationally recognized program gives at-risk high school students the opportunity to experience the performing arts while learning to achieve goals, relate to others and build self-esteem. The intensive two-week workshop culminates with a free performance open to the public. |

The Center's Arts Teach
The Center has an extensive roster of more than 75 professional artists in music, dance, theater and visual arts from around the globe who specialize in performing for school assemblies, family nights, student workshops, teacher professional development and residencies. These occur at the Center, in schools and at community venues throughout Southern California. Arts Teach is an enriching arts-in-education program that provides the wonder and excitement of live performance and hands-on activities to schools and community organizations.
The Center's Arts Teach Educator Professional Development
This Center program offers seminars and workshops throughout the year at the Center and in schools as well as the annual five-day summer leadership institute, Teaching and Learning in the Arts: Building Capacity for Student Success. These present approaches to teaching with the arts, skill and technique building in the arts, resource information and assessment strategies. Continuing education credit is provided by the University of California, Irvine Extension. It is held in partnership with the Orange County Department of Education and the Orange County Museum of Art. |

The Center's ArtsConnect
ArtsConnect is a long term partnership with five elementary schools in Orange County and two elementary schools in the San Bernardino City Unified District. This innovative residency program integrates the arts into curriculum and instruction through a series of teacher professional development sessions, classroom resources, performances and hands-on activities led by a roster of Master Teaching Artists who conduct student workshops related to specific learning concepts. ArtsConnect demonstrates the positive impact the arts have on education, including academic achievement, social development and motivation for learning. The program is presented in association with Artsvision and the Orange County Department of Education. |
