John King welcomes guests to the Extreme Guitar Orchestra concert

Thirty-nine guitarists performed to an audience of nearly 400 on the Orange County Performing Artscenter's community plaza on Saturday, March 29 - they were the John King Extreme Guitar Orchestra, and the free concert was part of the exciting new Off Center Series. Each performer was auditioned by King and learned several new works created by him for this event. Each performer had his or her own electric guitar and amplifier, and together created a unified and powerful musical force for its large and appreciative audience. The Extreme Guitar Orchestra is just one of many performances that are part of the Off Center Series, which also includes cutting-edge theater, indie bands, and other music events. Upcoming Off Center events are indie rocker Matt Costa, 500 Clown Frankenstein, Groovaloos and, more free events on the community plaza, including the soon-to-be announced schedule of Movie Mondays that will be presented on the plaza during July and August.
